Pasadena police and firefighters will run special fireworks enforcement patrols over the Independence Day weekend, while City Hall, libraries, and most administrative offices shut down starting Friday, July 3.

The city announced the closures on Thursday, June 26. Fire Chief Chad Augustin and Police Chief Gene Harris are urging residents to celebrate safely, with officers prepared to seize fireworks and arrest or cite offenders.

What's closed Friday, July 3:

City Hall, the Permit Center, the Municipal Services Payment Center, the Parking Office, the City Service Center, and all Pasadena Public Libraries. Libraries remain closed Saturday, July 4, as well.

What's open or running on schedule:

Trash, recycling, and yard waste collection will run as normal on Friday, July 3. Bulky item pick-ups will not be available. On Saturday, July 4, all city parks will be open for picnics and recreation (no site reservations accepted). The Honorable John J. Kennedy Pool will be open 1 to 4 p.m., and the splash pad at La Pintoresca Park runs 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Parking:

All meters not posted as "No Parking" will be free on Friday, July 3, and time limits won't be enforced. But overnight parking, red curb, "No Parking" zone, and fire hydrant violations will still draw citations. The city specifically warns drivers about restrictions in the Arroyo Seco area near Rose Bowl Stadium. Vehicles illegally parked in hillside areas on Saturday, July 4, will be impounded. Despite the holiday, full regular parking enforcement resumes Saturday, July 4.
