Fourteen nonprofits serving children and families across Pasadena, Altadena, and Sierra Madre will share $315,000 in grants from the Pasadena Child Health Foundation, the organization announced Thursday, June 11.
The grants, awarded through the Pasadena Community Foundation, fund programs spanning mental health, family stability, physical wellness, conflict resolution, and preventive care for kids in the Pasadena Unified School District attendance area. Individual grants reach up to $25,000.
"The organizations we're funding this year are doing the kind of work that changes a child's trajectory," said Jeannine Bogaard, vice president of community impact at Pasadena Community Foundation. "Whether it's mental health support, sports, or family stability, these programs give them a real foundation to thrive."
The 14 recipients are:
- Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena (Triple Play Plus)
- Door of Hope (Mental Health Program for Unhoused Children and Youth)
- Families Forward Learning Center (Healthy Parent and Child Program)
- Flintridge Center (Youth of Promise Program)
- Foothill Family Service (Youth and Family Preservation Services)
- Girls on the Run of LA County (Girls on the Run in Pasadena)
- Partnership for Success!
- Pasadena Educational Foundation (Advancing Health Equity for Vulnerable Youth)
- Rose Bowl Aquatics Center (Water Safety Program)
- SCHOOL, Inc. (Yoga & Mindfulness in PUSD)
- Union Station Homeless Services (Housing and Homeless Services for Families)
- Western Justice Center Foundation (Conflict Resolution Education & Youth Leadership)
- YMCA Metropolitan Los Angeles (Youth Wellness and Community Connection Initiative)

Some grantees receive multi-year funding from PCHF. The Rose Bowl Aquatics Center, one such recipient, has reached more than 28,000 PUSD students through its Water Safety Program over 35 years, providing all third-grade students with 15 free swimming lessons, a swimsuit, goggles, and transportation.
Several grantees serve Altadena families still recovering from the January 2025 Eaton Fire. The Pasadena Educational Foundation, one of this year's recipients, separately received a $5 million Kaiser Permanente grant in May for trauma-responsive health services at PUSD schools.
PCHF was established in 1951 and became a fund of the Pasadena Community Foundation in 2016. PCF oversees 11 grant programs annually.
