Pasadena renters and landlords can get free, one-on-one housing counseling without an appointment on Tuesday, June 30, at Villa Parke Community Center, 363 East Villa Street, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The drop-in session is the third in the Rent Stabilization Department's "Chats & Snacks with a Housing Counselor" series, which rotates through Pasadena's council districts every other month. This round lands in District 5, timed to overlap with Villa Parke's weekly Tuesday farmers market so neighbors can stop in while they shop.
The Housing Rights Center, a nonprofit the city contracts with for fair-housing services, is co-hosting. Counselors will field questions in English and Spanish on rent stabilization laws, rent-increase procedures, tenant and landlord rights, mediation services, disability accommodations, source-of-income protections, and resources for immigrant tenants.
At the series launch in February, Helen Morales, director of the Rent Stabilization Department, said: "Chats & Snacks is about reducing barriers and meeting residents where they are." The first event was held February 27 at La Pintoresca Library; the second drew residents to the Santa Catalina Branch Library on April 25.
Snacks and informational materials will be provided. No registration is needed.
