Two ArtCenter College of Design students brought their Honda internship work to one of the automotive world's most exclusive stages during Monterey Car Week, displaying quarter-scale concept cars at The Quail by The Peninsula in Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Travis Yang's "Dimension Zero" and Alexander Wang's "F-Zero" were showcased Friday, Aug. 14, at the sold-out motorsports gathering, where tickets run into the thousands of dollars. Both models were built during the Transportation Design students' internships at Honda, according to Pasadena Now.

The appearance marked ArtCenter's 24th consecutive year at Monterey Car Week, a stretch of more than 30 events that generates a $130 million annual economic impact for Monterey County, according to Newsweek.

ArtCenter's fingerprints extended beyond the student models. Delaney Barr, who earned a bachelor's degree in Transportation Design from the Pasadena college in 2025, created the official 2026 poster for The Quail. Barr said in an Aug. 14 ArtCenter LinkedIn post that she drew inspiration from Bruce Meyer's vehicle collection and the spirit of Route 66.

"I wanted the poster to feel less like a traditional concours illustration and more like a celebration of the journey," Barr said.

At the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on Sunday, Aug. 16, the 75th edition of that event, ArtCenter President Karen Hofmann, Transportation Design Chair Marek Djordjevic and Robert Cameron judged vehicles for the college's annual Design Excellence Award. Cameron is the son of the late British car designer Ian Cameron, who led Rolls-Royce's design team.

The students had their own judging role. At The Quail, Transportation Design students selected the Design Excellence Award winner, choosing the vehicle they considered the strongest example of automotive design.

Throughout the week, ArtCenter's Transportation Design and Photography students moved among the cars, sketching, photographing and meeting industry leaders who shape the profession many of them are aiming to enter.
