Pasadena residents can get help decoding their ballots at a free voter education forum Monday, Oct. 19, at Robinson Park Recreation Center.
The "Women at the Ballot" forum runs from 6 to 8 p.m. in the auditorium at 1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave. The League of Women Voters Pasadena Area and the Pasadena Commission on the Status of Women are co-hosting the nonpartisan event, Colorado Boulevard reported.
Monday is also California's deadline for online voter registration ahead of the Nov. 3 general election.
Forum topics include how to register to vote, where to find trusted election information, how to understand what's on the ballot and how to get questions answered before Election Day. Attendees can register online to submit questions in advance.
The League of Women Voters Pasadena Area, led by president Amy Majeske, has been running a series of nonpartisan forums across seven local jurisdictions this fall. In a Sept. 27 article about the broader effort, the organization said it has been "creating spaces where candidates and voters can connect face-to-face."
Voters who miss the Oct. 19 online registration deadline can still use California's same-day voter registration at a county elections office or voting location through Election Day, according to the secretary of state. County elections officials were required to begin mailing ballots by Oct. 5. Mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 3 and received by election officials no later than Nov. 10. In-person voters can cast ballots at polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
The forum is free and open to the public. For more information, residents can email [email protected].
