Drivers will lose access to a block of Arroyo Parkway starting Monday as Metro's contractor closes the street to stripe new bike and travel lanes.

The closure between Holly and Union streets runs from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, and Tuesday, Nov. 3, according to a Metro update published by Pasadena Now. No access can be provided to that block during striping, Metro said. Sidewalks will stay open.

Councilmember Justin Jones relayed the Metro update to District 3 residents on Oct. 30.

Parking will be restricted on Arroyo Parkway between Holly and Union for the full two-day striping period. In surrounding areas, parking restrictions apply only during working hours, according to the update.

Outside the closed block, crews will use moving lane closures on Holly Street and Arroyo Parkway. They plan to stripe one side at a time and keep at least one lane open.

The striping follows station construction that began in late April at the Holly Street and Arroyo Parkway intersection. That site is one of four Pasadena stations on Metro's North Hollywood to Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line. Pasadena's other station sites are at Colorado Boulevard and Los Robles Avenue, Colorado Boulevard and Lake Avenue, and Hill Avenue and Green Street.

In a Sept. 25 update, Metro said paving and final striping at the Holly Street site were expected through the end of October. Metro has cautioned that construction schedules are subject to change.

Metro said bus stops near the work may be relocated or affected. Riders can call Metro at 323.GoMetro or Pasadena Transit at (626) 744-4055 for changes.

The planned 19-mile BRT line will connect North Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale, Eagle Rock and Pasadena with zero-emission buses. Passenger service is scheduled to begin before the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, according to Metro's project page.

Metro is hosting two community meetings in November on the project: a virtual meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and an in-person open house on Thursday, Nov. 19, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Herrick Memorial Chapel at Occidental College.
