A 47-year-old Pasadena man walked into the emergency department at Huntington Memorial Hospital on Tuesday morning with multiple stab wounds but refused to tell police where or how he was attacked.

Officers responded to the hospital at 8:42 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, after staff reported a patient had arrived with visible injuries, Pasadena Police Lt. Anthony Russo said in a department statement reported by PasadenaNow.

Responding officers observed four distinct injuries: a large laceration on the right side of the man's mouth, a smaller cut on the left side, a head laceration with a small hematoma and an abrasion above his left knee, according to Russo. Hospital staff told officers the man said he had been stabbed.

The victim would not cooperate.

When officers tried to gather details, the man would not provide a suspect description or say where the attack took place, Russo said. The department received no other reports of a stabbing in the area around that time, leaving investigators without a second source of information about what happened.

The investigation is ongoing, but Russo acknowledged the victim's refusal to cooperate has left detectives without a crime scene location, a suspect description or a motive. Police did not disclose the man's medical condition or say whether his injuries were considered life-threatening.

No follow-up press conference or investigative timeline has been announced.

The case marks the second stabbing reported in Pasadena in roughly two weeks. On July 29, a 60-year-old Pasadena man was hospitalized after being stabbed in the shoulder during an altercation at his home on the 300 block of Pepper Street, according to a separate PPD statement attributed to Lt. Thomas Blanchard. A suspect in that case also remains at large.
