Pasadena's Fire and Police Departments will jointly host a 25th anniversary 9/11 memorial ceremony on Friday, Sept. 11, at City Hall Centennial Square.
The ceremony begins at 7:30 a.m. and will honor the lives lost in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks while recognizing first responders, the City of Pasadena announced on its official accounts Thursday, Aug. 27.
The event marks 25 years since the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people in New York, at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. It is one of the first major public observances Pasadena has scheduled for the milestone anniversary.
Both the Pasadena Police Department and the Pasadena Fire Department are listed as co-hosts. Police Chief Eugene Harris leads the police department, one of the two sponsoring agencies. The city's announcement did not name a fire department chief or identify specific speakers for the program.
