A Pasadena wealth management firm overseeing roughly $900 million in client assets has been acquired by Merit Financial Advisors, a national advisory firm based in the Atlanta area.

The Bridgeway Group, which has served individuals and families across the San Gabriel Valley from offices in Pasadena and Covina, rebranded as Merit Financial Advisors when the deal closed July 31, according to a Merit announcement released Aug. 12. Financial terms were not disclosed.

All nine Bridgeway employees will stay on.

Partners Matt Dupon, Sean Montgomery and Scott Miller will continue leading the team. Dupon and Montgomery will serve as wealth managers, while Miller, 34, takes on the additional role of area director with a focus on growth and talent development across Southern California.

"We knew we were going to make a transition, so it made sense to step back and ask where we wanted to go from here," Dupon said in the announcement. "We have built a strong business and want to keep growing, but continuing at this pace requires greater infrastructure and support."

The transition followed LPL Financial's acquisition of Commonwealth Financial Network, where Bridgeway had been affiliated for about 13 years. LPL is on track to move all Commonwealth advisors to its own platform by the fourth quarter of 2026, creating what Bridgeway's partners described as a natural moment to evaluate options.

Bridgeway is the sixth former Commonwealth team to join Merit since the LPL-Commonwealth deal, according to Yahoo Finance. Those six teams collectively manage about $4.7 billion in client assets.

Merit, which is backed by Constellation Wealth Capital, now manages about $30.1 billion across more than 55 offices nationwide. The Bridgeway acquisition is its 61st overall and ninth partnership closed in 2026. The firm said it views Bridgeway as a platform for continued expansion in Southern California.

Bridgeway grew about 22% annually over the past five years through a mix of market appreciation, smaller acquisitions and organic growth driven largely by client referrals and relationships with attorneys and CPAs. The firm recently hired two associate-level planning professionals ahead of the merger to increase capacity.
