The people who keep ArtCenter College of Design running are stepping out from behind the scenes. On Aug. 28, the college opens Kaleidoscope: A Reflection of Staff Artwork, a free exhibition showcasing work by ArtCenter's own artists, designers and makers, at the Fine Art Gallery on its South Campus at 1111 S. Arroyo Parkway, second floor.

The show runs through Sept. 22.

Now in its fourth year, Kaleidoscope highlights the creative lives of staff members who otherwise spend their days supporting students and operations at the Pasadena institution. The exhibition features work spanning multiple disciplines and materials, according to a press release from the college.

ArtCenter described the show's spirit in its announcement: each contributing artist offers a distinct perspective, and together the works form a mix of creativity, experimentation and imagination that shifts with every new piece a visitor encounters.

Admission is free. Visitors must check in at the security desk in the lobby.

A free Artists' Reception is set for Thursday, Sept. 17, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the gallery, giving residents a chance to meet the staff artists in person.

The exhibition is supported by the Offices of the President and the Provost, Exhibitions, and ArtCenter's Staff Council.

The South Campus building at 1111 S. Arroyo Parkway opened to ArtCenter students in 2015 and sits at the terminus of the historic Arroyo Seco Parkway.
